Dear friends, we are happy to announce Chervona's Signature Party - the 17th annual Old New Year Party  - Love Boom, on Sat, April 13h, 2024 at Star Theater Portland!

It is always great to celebrate NEW Year more than once. If your New Year's wishes and dreams did not come through on Jan 1st,  here is your second chance.
Do you know that people in Eastern Europe have a tradition to celebrate New Year twice, and the calendar change that happened about a hundred years ago has created this opportunity  -  Old New Year!

Why Magic?
The motif of this year’s celebration is Magic and we feel that our mission is to generate as much magic energy as possible to keep the world safe and peaceful!  Our MCs are magicians this year and the band is magical, so our guest singers and DJ.  Are you ready for the magical night? 

 

This year we'll bring on the stage of the Star Theater  "ALL STAR CHERVONA SHOW". 

The show will include musicians and singers well-known in the community accompanied by the high energy of  CHERVONA - "Best Eastern Europe Party Band in Pacific NW"

Also, we will have DJ Zhenya's Discotheque with the best old and newest hits.
 

CHERVONA –  Presenting the ultimate International Folk and dance party machine out of Portland, Oregon! Combining the energy and passion of Russian pop, American jazz, punk, and disco with Romani folk music, Chervona brings to the game a fiery new and compelling sound.

 

With authenticity and spirit, shining with soulful brass and sonorous woodwinds, hearts are freed by the traditional sounds of the old world wrapped in energetic new interpretations. Chervona transforms any moment into the year’s celebration!

Chervona

"Chervona" - International Nuclear Powered Folk (Gypsy, Klezmer, Dixieland, Polka, Swing, Ska, Punk) band and ultimate dance party machine.

Mixing together taste and passion of the best Gypsy, Russian, Ukrainian, Klezmer and Balkan musical traditions, Chervona brings the fire of Eastern European carnivals to the land of America.

With their authenticity and genuine fire Chervona has stolen many hearts. Shining with their brass section and capturing soul with the traditional sounds of the old world and new interpretations, Chervona transforms a celebration into an ultimate party! Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and pretty underwear - Chervona's parties are known for people dancing all night and taking off their clothes!

The band started practicing in Nov of 2006, and within first weeks of its existence they played at "Gypsymania" - gypsy dance discotheque created by Gogol Bordello's debaucher D.J. Dimon. After their first public appearances they rapidly gained popularity in the home town. As an addition to countless street performances Chervona have played quite a few big stages. Among them Slavic Festival and Oregon Country Fair, Red Marines festival in California, April Fool's Day Carnival, Revolution Party in Portland,Folk Life festival in Seattle. In 2007 Chervona played some special appearances with world famous Manu Chao and Gogol Bordello.

What does Chervona mean? It means 'red' and/or 'beautiful' in Ukrainian and Polish. Examples: Chervona mashina - red car Chervona vino - red wine Chervona devchina - beautiful girl Chervona bombina - hot mama.

Who is Chervona? This unique multicultural ensemble has Russian, Armenian, Jewish, Italian, Brazilian, German, Argentinean and Kazakhstan roots. Three of the band members are immigrants from former USSR and the rest of them were born in USA. . Chervona repertoire includes traditional hits from late 19th century with Gypsy/Russian and Eastern European flavor but not limited only to it. They easily assimilate music of different cultures and write their own songs too.

Currently Chervona is working on the material for the first album. They also were invited to participate in independent movie with soon to be classic song "Chervona Wine". They are very busy playing shows all over the North West.
