For those unfamiliar with his work, Dub FX is a street performer, recording artist, and producerfamous for creating intricate and impressive tracks entirely on his own. Using various vocalmethods and recording them into devices used for looping and effecting sound, Dub FX canmanipulate his voice in incredible ways, creating a layered soundscape infront of the audience.
In 2006, as social media was on the rise, Dub FX packed his bags, jumped on a plane, and left Melbourne to fulfill his dream of traveling Europe. For Dub FX, his musical talent and streetperforming were only ever intended as a means of income to fund the adventure. The universe,however, had other plans.
"I wanted to see as much of the world as possible and get inspired to write an authentic body ofmusic. I could then use that music to shop for a record deal, but I didn't imaginemy career couldtake off while on the trip."–DUB FX.
Dub FX realized early on that his unique process impressed people passing by on the street.While most artists struggle to attain slick production finishes in a studio, Dub FX was buildingand layering exceptional musical tracks live and instantaneously. When people stopped to listen,Dub FX delivered meaningful, conscious messages in his singing and rhymes. He captivated hisaudience emotionally and impressed them with his technical ability. These emotive & dynamicstreet performances enticed crowds to never walk away without buying a CD.
Two years later, Filmmaker Ben Dowden, aka 'BD', discovered Dub FX busking in the streets ofBristol. BD offered to film Dub FX's performance and later uploaded thenow 30-plus million-view videos 'Love Someone' and 'Flow' to YouTube. Immediately after, promoters startedcontacting Dub FX from all over the world, elevating him from a street artist to a club and festivalact.

Over the last thirteen years, Dub FX has released six records, sold over 250,000 albums,headlined major festivals, racked up over 300 million collective YouTube views, and built animposing social media presence without ever being played on commercial radio or TV.

In 2006, Melbourne born Benjamin Stanford set off to Europe with a simple plan; live in a van, travel the world and street perform. Fast forward, Dub FX has sold over a hundred thousand records, rocked major festivals all over the world, racked up 150+ million youtube views and organically acquired 600,000 Facebook fans. All completely independently.
“My plan was never to blow up, just to travel and get inspired.”
After endless street performances all over the world, people captured his art form on their phones and posted them all over social media, resulting in viral videos that catapulted dub fx into a brand new type of success that didn’t yet exist. The videos capture his original live looping style perfectly giving the audience an understanding of the layers that make up the eclectic one-person show.
“I like to mix all genres together jazz, reggae, hip-hop, samba, drum n bass, dubstep. whatever I’m feeling at the moment, that's the beauty of my setup.”
Imagine you're walking to work; you hear what sounds like a track from a CD played out of a Soundsystem. Instead, it's one person making all the sounds from just his voice, an FX pedal and a loop machine. Dub FX independently released his 3rd studio album 'Thinking Clear' in late 2016 through his label CONVOY in partnership with Germany label Membran. Recorded in his very own Treetop Studios, his innovative blend of genres with environmental scenery creates a holistic experience that inspires through transcendent electronic and acoustic elements.
