Chris Newman, the amazingly talented and criminally under-appreciated guitarist and singer for many bands -- including Napalm Beach, Snowbud and the Flower People, Boo Frog, The Chris Newman Deluxe Combo, The Untouchables and many others -- passed away on Sunday, May 9th. Chris' talent was equally matched with his sweet, humble demeanor.
His friends and family and former bandmates would like you to join them for a Celebration of Life for Chris Newman, where we will share stories, videos, and hear some of Chris' many amazing songs. This will be held at Star Theater (13 NW 6th Ave, Portland) on Saturday, Sept 4, 2021 from 8pm until we run out of songs.
The evening will include over two dozen of Chris' songs performed by a who's who of the Portland punk and indie scene, including Sam Henry, Dave Dillinger, Howard Gee, Monica Nelson, Mark Sten, Kelly Halliburton, Jenny Connors, Eric Lee Olsen, Rob Wrong, Jeff Larson, Corey Lewis, Doug Naish, Jerud Moyer, Jeff Spane, Mike Teal, Regina LaRocca, Otis P Otis, Becca D, Pat Baum, Toody Cole, Mish Bondage, John Shirley, Jimi Hackett, and more!
