Zion I & Amp Live are celebrating 20 years since their critically acclaimed debut Mind Over Matter dropped. Featuring hits Silly Puddy & Venus, The Source claimed it as one of the best independent albums of 2000. The Oakland duo has released 10 more albums together including collaborations with Linkin Park, Bassnectar, & Rebelution.
This duo of genre-bender pride has made a name for itself on the Bay Area scene by successfully mixing spiritualism and hip-hop. Oakland's MC Zumbi and DJ/producer Amp Live blend hip-hop and trip-hop beats with lyrics focused on a message of unity, hope, and spiritual awareness.
Since the release of the debut album, Mind Over Matter in 2000, Zion I has risen up the ranks of independent hip-hop to solidify their standing as one of the most prolific conscious rap groups of the past 2 decades. Boasting a catalog that consists of over two-dozen albums, EPs, mixtapes and collaborations, Zion I continues to create inspired music influenced by social & political woes, personal challenges & triumphs as well as family, spirituality and a raw perspective on the world at large.
